A number of sinister events occur, and Marilyn is involved. A decade later, a former member of a secret team that once served the President finds what he thinks is an ideal refuge - becoming a janitor at an out-of-the-way, impoverished Brooklyn synagogue and taking an unexpected interest in the Orthodox Jewish way of life - as a well-meaning outsider. Suddenly he discovers that his new name, new face, and new milieu cannot protect him against the past, and Marilyn's affairs continue to haunt him. A woman who once loved him re-enters his life. From that point on, with an unsettled score on his hands, the man who may or may not have killed Marilyn is forced to confront his destiny once again.

This novel is a work of fiction. All of the names mentioned (including the name Marilyn) and events described in it are nothing more than the product of the author's imagination. Any resemblance to real life names, persons, and events, including the name of the person who killed Marilyn, and the author's own name, is therefore purely coincidental.
